If you have drug testing you need to make sure and get with your vet ASAP so you get can vet approved medications. Since it is so close to the show if your vet has not approved or administered these drugs then you can test hot and get thrown out and banned.

I had a similar problem with a show pig last year. I noticed that my barrows was limping after a walk one day after a walk. I figured that he’d just injured himself and that after a day or two of rest he would be back to normal. It ended up getting worse and worse to the point where he wouldn’t put any weight on his left leg. Then I decided that maybe something more serious was going on and did bantamin and treated it like an injury. The medicine wasn’t helping and the severe limping continued so naturally, I began to worry about what was going on. A friend of our family suggested that we worm him (and he needed to be wormed anyway) so I did. Come to find out he had a ton of tape worms lodged, in his shoulder socket which was causing him to limp. We wormed him and instantaneously he started pooping out tapeworms (which looked like spaghetti) and I put him on SafeGuard and he began to walk normal. Apparently, the source of the worms was the shavings that we were using, so we switched our shaving brands and sprayed the barn with some nasty spray that would kill any remaining worm eggs in the shavings. The barrow turned out just fine. Hope you find this helpful! :)
