Drooling

Post by wufpkgrl » Wed Mar 27, 2019 8:10 pm

We have a show pig that started drooling and acting like his mouth is bothering him. He was hesitant to take his marshmallows last night, slacked off from eating and does not seem to have the energy he has had. This pig LOVES rubs and we had a hard time getting him to let us check the inside of his mouth. Most concerning is the drooling. Him and another pig are kept in a enclosed barn with concrete floor and are turned out in the evenings while we clean the pen and given time to stretch their legs. The barn does have pecan trees around so they do munch on sticks and pecans. There is also a hive of honey bees about 30 yards away.
Has anyone seen this before and what can we do? He is to be shown in April and it is the kids last year.

I would think that maybe he was stung in the mouth by a bee or wasp. I was thinking that before you said that there were bees around. I would give him some Benadryl and see if that helps.
