Feeding a 105 lb pig for show in mid Jan

Post by heidituynman » Sun Oct 27, 2019 7:30 am

We got our FFA show pig on Oct 7th. He weighed in at 85 lbs on Oct 10th. I started feeding him 1/4 cup of oats and 1.4 lbs of 611 both am and pm. He has gained fast and looks amazing. He weighed 105 3 days ago so I have started moving him onto linder 632. Right now I am at 1.6 lb total feed am and pm with half being 611 and half being 632 plus 1/4 lb oats. I don't want him to be too big by sale time but I know he needs to gain more. Is the amount I am feeding him okay for his weight? Also, should I feed him straight 632 or should I move him to where he is eating a mix of 685 and 632? I am familiar with livestock but have never had a show pig so any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I dont know lindner products, but my advice for you would be to feed him what he cleans up before the next feeding and keep him growing till you get closer to end goal weight. In my experience it is easier to hold if too heavy than put weight on if light.
