Until they reach about 100 lb push’s will consume about 5% of their bodyweight per day. After that energy density of the diet is the determine factor.

Re: Feeding Multiple Pigs
2 lb per day is adequate for a 40 lb pig. If they are much larger than that they are not receiving enough nutrition. 30 minutes isn’t that bad. But if you want to speed meal time up then give them 20 minutes and the. Remove any feed left in the feeder. Keep doing this until they clean up the feed on...

Re: Thick Legs
The number one thing affecting bone is genetics. However, age also affects what bone “looks like”. As pigs grow older they look like they have bigger legs because of cartilage. Hair can also impact the look of bone. This is why in the past few years people are feeding and showing older pigs with a l...

Re: Thick Legs
Are you asking about the hams (muscle area above the hocks) or the legs themselves (area of hock to the ground called bone)?

Re: Purina 219 creep feed not for swine intended for breeding?
219 is medicated with Carbadox (mecadox). That language is required on the tag by the FDA on all feeds medicated with Carbadox. It also says not to feed to pigs weighing more than 75 lbs. This is because the drug manufacturer submitted data to the FDA on market pigs under 75 lbs. The FDA will only a...

Re: Increase Average Daily Gain
You can use Heavy Weight get with any feed. Feed 4-6 oz per day to help improve feed intake. Mix the Heavy Weight with enough water to make a milk shake like consistency. Then add to the feed. Start at 4 oz and increase by 4 oz about every 4-5 days until feeding 12 - 16 oz per day for increasing dai...

Re: Increase Average Daily Gain
If you stored the Heavy Weight in a freezer it’s still good. If you didn’t it’s probably not good and you need fresh stuff. Work up to at least 12 oz per day Heavy Weight (16 oz will be better if he’ll eat it). I suggest mixing the feed with enough water (feed, oats and Heavy Weight) to make a moist...

Re: Stress after fighting.
Pigs fight. When you introduce new pigs to each other (even just 1) they fight (every time) to establish a social pecking order).

Re: Increase Average Daily Gain
I don’t think molasses will do it. Energy (calories) is what fuels weight gain. Add High Octane Heavy Weight starting at 4 oz per day, and increase by 4 oz per day about every 3 days until you are feeding 12-16 oz per day Heavy Weight (along with Showpig feed).

Is the other pig in the pen a barrow? He may have a retained testicle and could be acting like a boat, especially if she’s coming into heat.

Feed: (Total daily feed: divide into 2 equal meals): Purina Honor 719. 2 lb High Octane Champion Drive. 1 lb High Octane Depth Charge 8 oz Monitor weight gain, but this should put the pig at about 1.3 lb per day or so. After the weigh in feed either of these 2 diets: (Total daily feed; divide into 2...
