Re: what trend are people seeing this year at shows
I'm not sure that you will see a big movement into adding body length as no one is ready to accept those hogs that are flat behind the shoulder or even broken shouldered. Also, it's a lot tougher to keep those 6 and 7 month old barrows fresh and complete when you add body length. However, I do thin...

Re: Shooter at Hi Point
We fed a Shooter x Full Throttle gilt this year. She actually came from the breeders of Shoot em. She is super stout and very sound for all the natural dimension and skeletal width she possesses. Not bow legged at all. She is moderate with plenty of bone. Where I would like to change her would be gr...

Re: Need Help Fast!!!
Guess we've been REALLY lucky over the years. Feed thousands of eggs a year without a problem. We do use mostly eggs from r chickens. I will agree that the 809s have all your nutritional needs and honor has a great feed program. Some hogs that are inconsistent in how they eat are probably just not g...

Re: Need Help Fast!!!
I wouldn't be feeding depth charge. Have you tried slopping with milk or milk replacer? Id also be feeding a couple eggs a day. Feed at least 2 times a day. Gaining 3#s a day is not out of the question. Has she been wormed regularly? I would also make sure shes exercised daily and make sure its not ...

Re: Moormans feed price
Glad to know. If I was selling feed id have the same standpoint that you have. I'm not. The weath of knowledge of your product and endless help is great. I am here to tell people it doesn't matter what you feed if you dont put the endless hours into this deal. Does it take $20-$30 a bag feed to win?...

Re: Moormans feed price
I've fed commercial feed and beat many people feeding all the top brands. You feed what you want. Feed doesn't win the show. Yes we feed additives. Moormans is a fixed formula feed. It never changes. Does honor have a fixed formula? Does that matter? Does to me. Feed what you want. It all works fair...

Re: Moormans feed price
Honor is just as high or higher than any showtec feed here. $18 is about the average. We feed some of the moormans but mainly our own mix and grind with the showtec mintrate. Still runs about $16 a bag on avg for a 18%, 1.25 lysine, and 5 fat.

I think the trend is also framing up. At least the "older judges" seem to be picking above moderate hogs.
