Re: supliment help!
Thanks kgb! I feed showrite, mainly because of availability but am planning on feeding honor supliments. Your help and advice on here is very much appreciated. If I get the ultra full should I still use the depth charge? What can I use to get muscle expression and limit weight gain other then paylean?

supliment help!
I'm new to the feed supliment game but not to pigs. This is my son's 1st year showing. He has 2 Feb gilts that will show the end ofJuly. First gilt weighs 145lb (Feb 9), gaining 1.77lbs/day, over the last 2 weeks. 50 days = 233. Id like her in the 240 range. She needs cover and rib shape. 2nd gilt (...

Prolapsed preputial? hog doc , Dr amy
Our herd boar prolapsed out his sheath last Sat. so I shipped him Monday evening After some research we think it's a Prolapsed preputial. I never heard of such a thing and I talked to a few breeders that never heard of it. Is it common? Could it have been fixed and he still breed? Or was 2014 just t...

extra due claw?
I have a 3 week old pig with an extra due claw on front foot. I was planning on cutting him and selling as a market pig but now am thinking about keeping him a boar and possibly showing him. Can I cut it off or should just let it go?

Re: Kevin Abt (judge)
We had him at our county in 2012. He did a fine job. I thought he was very consistent and good on the microphone. They need to be sound for sure.

Re: Showmanship
We've had judges do the chairs, boards, switch pigs, and even turn in their whips and drive with their hands but my favorite was an old time judge 20+ years ago sat in the crowd so when we came out we had to find him. It was funny watching all the kids (myself included) coming into the ring without ...

Re: HELP -Gilt pushing for 2 days still no babies
We had this happen to us this past summer and the vet ended up coming out and unfortunately had to pull the piglets and they were stillborn. Her body didn't do what it was supposed to and we couldn't get her to open up really well so the piglets died during labor. Hope you have better luck than we d...

Re: watjie $380,000 blue xbred boar!!
I just talked to a well respected breeder that was there and he said he was by far the best boar he ever saw! He also said he may not make them better because that will be very hard to do but he will most definitely make them better than the sow. He also heard that they already had $100, 000 worth o...

Re: Another Weight Gain Question
I'm no expert, but with you feeding 18lbs of feed + 4 grams of paylean you should be fine. In order for you to hit your goal weight you only need 2.5lbs/day, I don't see why you wouldn't be around 270+ at fair. Jmo maybe someone else will chime in

Discharging in bred sows??
We have 2 sows that were bred live to the same boar. We're coming up on 3 weeks post service. Both sows are discharging a very white, creamy discharge. Their behaviors are fine and they are eating normally. We have read about uterine infections post breeding, and are wondering if the boar could have...
