i have taped their mouths shut and tied their legs to the crate to keep them from getting up in the past. usually after a few hours of pigs sucking the maternal instinct starts kicking in. also that way i know the pigs get some colostrom.

if shes in a crate , tie her legs to the bars, duct tape her mouth and let the babes suck. sows will normally settle down after a few hours of this and if they dont at least the pigs get their colostrum.

it is not uncommon for my sows to go 116 days, had one go 120 days once and all went well even tho i worried bad the last few days. i have often wondered how much environmental issues play into it as my sows are normally on the range until a few days before due date and then moved to a crate.

tie her legs to the crate , keep the pigs away from her mouth and let em suck. this usually works if done early enough. after a few hours she will love them babies.

<t>i usually dont either but ive got 5 day old semen here and the intended sow is 3 days late(just now starting to swell)on her heat cycle. that leaves me with the decision to breed the gilt or take a chance that the semen will still be viable in 2 or 3 days. again i would hear from someone who has ...
