Back in the Show Ring!

Re: Naming swine for breed papers

Re: Newborn shaking head
I had a piglet that shook his head from birth. It turned out he had brain damage from lack of oxygen. I do not think it is an ear infection, but if he gets worse and the sore starts oozing puss or gets bigger I would consult a vet.

Re: Keeping white pigs white
Wash her as often as you can and prevent mud in the pen if possible. If her color is still not improved enough use "white out" it can be bought at sullivans supply. You may want to check the rules of your fair as it may be illegal at some shows.

Re: slopping my pig
I don't think their would be a problem. I've known people who have slopped their pigs from purchasing till fair time.
But I would ask hogdoc just to be sure.

I'd say your boar won't have a problem covering the sow. I have a boar that will cover sows twice his size

Re: Keeper Gilt Size
I wouldn't expect her to pass on her small size. She may have had something when she was a piglet that caused her to be smaller, but it probably isn't genetic.

Re: Hampshire Boars to use?
i'll suggest thunderbolt and undercover from cain super sires. Both are really nice boars with width and muscle.
