Re: Farrowing help asap please
Was she in a crate? If she was she shouldn't be able to turn around to eat them or the afterbirth. Seems to me that you would be able to see residue from birth or staining on concrete if she delivered and did consume them.

Litterguard LTC - Sow Never Been Administered Before
Seems recommendation for Litterguard LTC is 5 weeks for gilts and then another dose 2 weeks before farrowing. However for sows, it just recommends 2 weeks prior to farrowing. What is the reason for two doses for gilts? My sow has never been administered litterguard previously. This will be her secon...

Re: Moving sows when pregnant
Thanks for your reply Dr Amy. Is there any chance of harming piglets if we put sow in trailer and move her over to farrowing location that is 10 miles away down bumpy road a week prior to delivery date? Do want to jeopardize litter by moving too late as road is pretty bumpy.

Moving sows when pregnant
I have two sows that are pregnant and the place where our pigs will farrow is about 10 miles away. When is a good time to move the sows prior to farrowing? I want to do it as late as possible as they are due July 2nd.

Extremely Swollen Vulva on Gilt
I have a gilt that is 8 months old, believe this is her 3rd time in estrus. She is currently in heat, but today i noticed her vulva extremely swollen, about the size of a cutie orange. Never seen any swell this much. Anus is not swollen. She is still acting normal and has regular appetite. vulva is ...

Sadly to report Bone Collector is no longer alive. Received response from Lairds stating they lost him a week ago. Big loss for sure. Visionary and Bone Chill are sons of Bone Collector and at Premium Blend Genetics.

Re: Very Hard & tight muscled cross
We did not have any issues when switching to ground feed. When switching to a different type of feed, I have found gradually switching by added a little more of the new feed and less of the old feed over 3 feedings helps. There is a better chance of the pig staying on the feed as opposed to stop eat...

Re: Very Hard & tight muscled cross
I have not used the product you mentioned, however I have had really good success with Lindner's. I have been feeding twice a day - 2 lbs Lindner 686 and 2 lbs 698. Combined the come out to 14% protein, 10.7% fat and 0.75% Lysine. I also add in some MoorFat to increase the percent of fat. The 698 is...

Market Division / Breeding Division - Amount of Cover Needed
I am trying to determine how much cover should be on a market barrow as compared to a breeding gilt during show. To me it seems like cover shouldn't be as important on a breeding gilt. What are the specifics areas (back crease / dimple above tail) you are looking at when trying to decide if you have...

Re: List of Texas Swine prospect/jackpot shows
Could someone provide some more information about San Angelo Fall Spectacular. Looking at the website it states, "Gilts or barrows may enter; Boars under 125 pounds are allowed". There also states that there is two shows. Show A on Saturday and show B on Sunday. I currently have two July p...

Porcine Stress Syndrome (PSS) website
Does anyone know a website that has a collection of popular boars with their known stress classification? Producer's website only shows 1 sire as stress-negative and none of the others denote the classification. Interested in online sale, but want this information. Thanks
