Was she in a crate? If she was she shouldn't be able to turn around to eat them or the afterbirth. Seems to me that you would be able to see residue from birth or staining on concrete if she delivered and did consume them.

Thanks for your reply Dr Amy. Is there any chance of harming piglets if we put sow in trailer and move her over to farrowing location that is 10 miles away down bumpy road a week prior to delivery date? Do want to jeopardize litter by moving too late as road is pretty bumpy.

I have two sows that are pregnant and the place where our pigs will farrow is about 10 miles away. When is a good time to move the sows prior to farrowing? I want to do it as late as possible as they are due July 2nd.

We did not have any issues when switching to ground feed.
