I've had luck tubing them.
Use a rectal tube and a bander. Fix it sooner rather than waiting. Keep the pig penned alone. Make sure other pigs can't get to it. They will chew it off. They will even chew it off through a fence. It should fall off in 7-10 days.
Good luck!

Re: Aborting litters
I would still have some further testing done as was mentioned by others. We've missed a dose of pre-farrowing vaccine here and there and never had issues like your mentioning. It's definitely worth investigating more.

Re: To induce or wait it out
We use esturmate with no trouble. Our vet has prescribed it at 1cc. We inject in the neck. Never had any trouble. Usually see pigs in 24-36 hours. Sows on the 24 hour side and gilts more on the 36 hour side. Did have a gilt go 48 hours once. We always induce our gilts on day 112 for a day 113 birth....

Re: LB White trouble
I'd believe it. Also keep the pilot shield on. That can effect it also. LB White tech also said that the tank can take some time to build the correct pressure after being off during the of season.

Re: LB White trouble
I'm not sure what changed over the last few days, but the heater started working last night. We went out last night to have a look at it one last time. Lit the pilot and it appeared normal. Before it was a lazy yellow flame. We let it run for a few minutes and turned the heater on. The burner lit as...

Re: LB White trouble
Tech support at LB White seem to think it's low gas pressure. I had the pilot lite for a day, but when you call for heat it runs and then shuts everything down. Propane company is coming tomorrow to check the pressure at the gas valve inlet.

LB White trouble
I have a LB White 346J LP heater. Last year I had trouble with it. You could lite the pilot and it would stay lit. The minute you turned it on for heat it would run for a few seconds and blow it's self out. I changed the gas valve and thermocoupler and it worked fine then. We shut it off at the end ...

Re: TransRite Sow Ultra??
I agree with the above post by mtbkmom. We use Trans-Rite. I've also seen the small amount of placenta followed by a dead piglet then a large amount of placenta. Usually that dead piglet also has a small cord. It never fails that dead piglet always seems to be really nice looking! Our farrowing seas...

Re: Feeding Older Pigs
I like to hold later. If I know I'm going to be heavy I'll feed 3 lb of TNT and 1 lb of 672 or 684 depending on how the hog looks. This will meet all the daily nutrients required and keep them looking fresh. I've done this for as long as 3-4 weeks prior to the show. Make sure you have a place to fee...

Used Equipment prices ??
Does anyone else think the prices that used equipment sells for it crazy? lol I've bought some brand new Hog Slat DIY gates recently. A brand new 9' panel is selling for $75, on sale right now till 03/31/17, but a used, rusted up one, the same length, sells for $95-100. I was in the market for a set...

Re: Short cords
We had a Berk sow that just had the same issue. 9 live and 3 dead. The 3 dead had cords about 2-3 inches long. Easy farrow, on trans-rite, 1cc oxy used. Hoping there might be a cure.

The subject title busted me up as well.
Darin, your statement on timing does that apply to gilts as well as sows? (and Hog Doc) lol
