Re: Online Sale or Board Sale, Success?
So it's basically a silent auction? Someone mans the board, takes bids from buyers and writes the buyer number and bid amount on the white board. Once the board is closed the highest bidder wins. Then the pigs that didn't receive a minimum bid you open up again for a lower minimum? Is there any need...

Re: Holding ration?
Taken from the Sunglo web page...... •Is useful when intake is restricted to limit weight gain. •When limit feeding, adding FULL Tank maintains “gut fill” and keeps the fresh, expanded look. Like I stated earlier, I don't feed Sunglo, I'm just "throwing mud at the fence to see what sticks"...

Re: Holding ration?
You're roughly 91 days out. At 1.5 ADG (136.5lbs) plus current weight would put you at 265 lbs. That should give you a couple lbs to play with. Sunglo should have a holding additive (Full Tank) that can be mixed with a Sunglo complete feed to achieve the 1.5 ADG. I feed TNT and 631, 3 lbs per day, 2...

Re: Holding ration?
Need some info in the pig. DOB, show date, ADG/weights, current feed ration/feed info. I like to hold (slow them down) during the 200-250lb range. I typically feed Lindner, so I use a mixture of TNT and 631 that gives me pretty good control over weight gain and still meets all the pigs daily nutriti...

Re: Feed costs
We've fed Lindner for a couple years now. Depending on how you feed them, it typically cost our kids $300-350 per pig. We usually feed 631, 685, 698, TNT, Full Figure and Scud.

Re: Berkshire Boar
We bred Cookie Monster x Double Stuff. We were looking to add bone. He did that. The litter top to bottom was jet level, extended, thick front to back. The whole litter sold well. 2-3 gilts headed to a state fair and the barrows are all headed to a fair also. We sold the runt barrow a few weeks ago ...

Re: Berkshire Boar
One that we haven't used but we are this fall is Power To Inspire 6-2 at Swine Genetics Inter. I've been told good things about him. We used Cookie Monster from Shaffer's this past fall and really like the litter we got from him.

Breeding guarantee ?
I have a couple 10-11 week old gilts for sale, asking $350, and had a potential buyer ask me if I would guarantee they can be bred. I've never been asked this question before and wondered what the "industry standard" is? I've bought gilts to breed in the past and never thought about asking...

Re: Teaser boar
That's my main question. Do we need to have the retained testicle removed or can he live with it and not have it removed?

Teaser boar
We are currently looking to keep a boar out of one of our litters as a teaser boar. We have one that is a crypto. Can we keep him around without any health issues with the retained testicle?

Re: Best Berk Sire
We used Cookie Monster from Shaffer's on a Double Stuff sow this year. They are only 3 weeks old, but are super thick topped and wide front to back. They look like they will have plenty of rib shape as well. Should be easy to feed and make great show pigs. I don't know if he's the best, but he worke...

Re: Berks hair color.
Last year we had a barrow that had a handful of red mixed in the white in his forehead. After we clipped him it was hardly noticeable. What I've notice this year with our berk litters is the tremendous amount of white hair blotches all over their body. Has anyone else noticed this?
