Re: Weight help please 14 days
Just follow directions. Fat is easily fed with wet slopping. It gets into the feed and gets em diving into it in most cases. Don't feed a bunch right at the start. Too much too soon can give em loose poops. If going to the feed store and with her being picky see if they have a tube of probiotic past...

Re: Weight help please 14 days
Get some of HogDoc's Tru Glo CR. It is a supplement for pigs and they hit their feed like eating cotton candy. Another trick is to wet slop her feed since she likes water. Put her feed in the pan dry and then pour water (about 16 oz) while she sticks her head in it. IF you can get a liquid supplemen...

Re: Pregnant or not?
We almost exclusively only feed 4 lbs/day thru out gestation to maintain a BCS of 2.5-2.75. Right around 80-90 days can generally see a drop in their flank. BCS drives how much they get fed.

Re: Need help breaking showpig
Confine the size space you are walking them in and increase it as they behave. If you have to start off in their pen, then the walkway to the outside (have pen panels to make it smaller at first and then cut em loose. Feed them first then they are happy and not trying to run back to get fed. It also...

Re: Finisher before starter?
What brand feed are you using. In any case, professional nutritionist develop this feed to maximize their growth and development based on age and projected termination. But in any case, starter is starter and finisher is finisher. Now....Lindners has a feed they call 611 that can be used when pig is...

Re: How much to feed a recently breed sow
Yes. Very important to go to 4 lbs per day to manage their metabolic rate (heat production from the feed) the first 30 days do the embryo does not burn up. Their BCS going into this should be around 2.5-2.75 so they are getting plenty of maintenance and gave to worry about growing.

Re: Do you induce? Several questions.....
I used Farrowlife by Devenish Nutritionbased out of Belfast with a rep in MN and IA. Very small encapsulated beads of calcium, etc. we also have used Hubbard's Trans Rite. The Tra sRite works but seemed messier as a top dress...white beads would stick on their noses and get stuck on the hair around ...

Re: feeding to get rib and flank
If you even think rib/flank might be an issue, then I would sprinkle some depth charge into their feed mix right from the get go...less than 1/4 cup when about 10 weeks old right on top and just keep sprinkling until they reach around 150 and then start with the recommended amounts. That way they re...
