York (your) gilt pigs will be white except for gray spots especially when exposed to sun.

Re: Breeding gilt

Some back flow is normal and actually positive when beeeding as contractions are rather strong.

I would be more concerned if you didn't have some strong flow out of semen.

Sounds like she bred very well, hopefully nature will be kind to you.

Re: Purebred Spot piglets have red?

Color is inherited from both parents.

Swine color is very complex genetically especially with the inclusion of Pietrain genetics in almost all pedigreed "purebreds".

Re: Linebreeding

Any form on line or in breeding will concentrate some of the genetics in the animals both good and bad.

However, what you are discussing is far from intense so pending the volume of genetic junk you have in the animals - and all have some junk - you should be fine.

The obvious response would be to ask stud owners if they know the color status of boars.

Re: Early lactation

Light milk can be expressed a few days before farrowing.

When it squirts you in the face, she is very close.

If you bred her ai then you have the exact date and time bred.

Re: c-section for pigs

I feel very bad for all individuals who face this as I have myself a few times. I am fortunate to have competent large animal vets in my area to assist in extreme circumstances. A reality must be faced by those that choose to farrow showpigs in geographies with out professional help available that y...

Re: Boar not consistantly successful breeding

Some boars simply are lazy breeders and not aggressive enough to complete the process. If he was able to successfully settle two that tells you he can but chooses not to extend properly. It is possible he has an injury but my guess is that is unlikely. Probably needs to move him and find another boar.

Re: Lite pigs

Each individual has different goals with their project and that is very much acceptable. If your situation is to only be able to view and work with the projects once per day that us fine as well as long as the animals are cared for properly which seems like this is done. I would encourage you to be ...

Re: People that use flush pans under crates HELP

Purchased flush pans years ago.

Best day of my pig life was when I decided that idea was bad and tore them out and have been been pulling crap from under crates ever since.

Hope I have saved you money and wasted labor. No commission expected.
