Re: overweight advice

Thank you so much for the response! I'm going to try to see what feed stores around me carry those products. I'm still trying to add a fat cover to her, so do you think I could squeeze in a product like Fat and Fluffy without her gaining much weight from it?

overweight advice

Hi, PROBLEM : I'm in a bit of a dilemma because my pig weighs 275 lb. as of today. The max weight limit for my fair is 275 lb. and the weigh-in is next Saturday. HISTORY : I have been weighing my pig consistently every Saturday morning for about the past month and a half. She has always seemed prett...

Re: New to the show scene

Sure! I'm happy to help out. It's lots of fun! Moormans should be good, although I don't have experience with it. I've gone to some talks where they represent Moormans, and I'm sure there are some winners out there feeding Moormans. Everyone has a different preference though. ;) I'd look around and ...

Re: New to the show scene

Hi there! I'm no expert, but I've been raising pigs for the past three years and am giving you advice from my experienced leaders/show pig talks I've gone to. My leaders tell me to start at 3 lb. per day of food and work it up to 6 lb. per day. Not sure what your weight goal is though, and what you'...

Re: Supplement Help

Thanks for the suggestion! Do you have a supplement that you specifically like for adding fat? BTW, I don't have access to Purina products. I've been told to use milk replacer but not sure if there's a better supplement that'll work faster instead of that... I'd say she walks pretty smoothly. She's ...

Supplement Help

Hi - I attached a link at the bottom to look at photos of my pig. Any advice on what supplements I should be feeding? What would you say are her strong/weak points on how her body looks? (e.g. What would you change on her if you could, and what do you like about her?) She is a crossbreed female, and...

Pig Political Issues

Hi again,

For my 4-H club, I need to give a presentation on "Pig Political Issues". I don't even know where to start - are there any resources anyone can think of, or does anyone have any knowledge of some current pig-related political issues?

thanks

Mud Surface

Hi all, I have one pig for my fair in July that I got this past weekend - I would say she's probably about 50 lbs. Right now, she is on mud because it has been raining where I live. The rain should stop after this weekend and dry up into dirt pretty fast, I believe. I have a small "house" ...

Re: Showday Pop

I have a few questions regarding this topic too… So the night before you show, should you start the dextrose? For example, if you feed in the am and pm and it’s the day before the show, should you add the dextrose to the pm feeding ONLY? Also, should you still feed the same amount of regular feed yo...

Re: Supplement Help

Okay. I might only be able to get my hands on the Ultra Full until next Tuesday - does anyone think it will have any effect if fed for about 3 weeks?

Re: Supplement Help

So I may not be able to get my hands on the Purina Ultra Full for a few days to maybe a week. I've heard that the Purina Depth Charge works quickly - would it have basically the same effect as the Ultra Full? Thanks for your help! :)

Re: Supplement Help

Thanks for the suggestion! Will the Purina Ultra Full help with the belly drop? Also, do you think I should add water to their feed to slop it?
