Event timeline - Summer Type Conference
Looking for schedule for Summer Type Conference in Springfield, Illinois. Have to be some where else at the end of the week, and trying to determine if I can make it. I googled it and found nothing on the 2017 event. Anyone point me in the right direction?
Re: feeding
I have used all three, Moorbody is the favorite among my show hogs, TNT was identical except the particles were smaller - the hogs seemed to like it well. The Depth Charge they would only eat if mixed with other food. IMO

Cleaning a sow previous to birth of pigs
What solution is best to clean a sows udder area and teats previous to birth of pigs to kill bacteria, etc. That will not effect the new pigs wanting to attach - due to residue. Just curious.

I am real satisfied with Kalmbach for gestation, lactation and show feeds.

Has anyone used these and /or tried them on hogs that are clearly not preg? I am just curious to whether they truly work.

Re: When/What signs should I see in a pregnant gilt?
Depending on how often you see your gilts or sows, I first notice that there is an increase in appetite and they are always hungry. I will have quiet hogs get louder and climb pens where they don't when they are not preg. Then within 30-45 days you start to see some bellying down in many of the gilt...

Re: 2017 litters
Obviously everyone has their favorites. Not that mine are show stoppers, just that I am excited about these few of many I have bred. Landrace Gilt (Rebel Yell - LVS x Horizon) bred to Bad Cat -PBG Spot sow (Wall Street x Radioactive) bred to Trash Talk - LVS Duroc sow (Red Angus) bred to Left Behind...

Re: Draminski ?
Delangworthy, Sounds like you bred this sow near perfect. 200 would be the low end with this animal in my opinion also. You were correct to get her on the spike. If she was 290 I would guess she had started ovulating within just a few hours before you dosed her. Usually the spike will go from the lo...

"It is a very safe drug. It will not induce abortion in pregnant sows accidently injected "
That was a very good article. Thank you.

Bred and PG600 and Non-Cycling
I will assume I know my answer since it is a hormone. Is there any issue with giving a gilt or sow that could be preg. a shot of PG600? Now for the why. I experienced three gilts this year who cycled on the first shot of PG600 but then quit cycling. The next two cycles, there was no sign of heat. On...

Re: Pregtone on Gilt
You might want to make sure you are pointing in the right direction. It is easy to pick up the bladder if you are not pointing it correctly. I use plenty of corn oil as the lube. If you can catch the gilt or sow after she has urinated you are less likely to get the bladder tone.

Re: Draminski ?
Bred usually somewhere between 300 and up. I can not say that I have seen a preg gilt or sow in the 200s. A non-cycling gilt would be also in 300s, so thus why it is hard to tell at that point. Keep in mind every sow or gilt can have different numbers, I wouldn't panic if you get a 290. If you are d...

Re: Draminski ?
500 is completely out of cycle. Make sure you place the probe as deep as you can, usually next to the cervix. Turn it twice and get two measurements. These numbers will generally drop between 200 - 150 just prior to ovulation. If I have a gilt or sow under 200 I give her a dose, knowing that the sem...

Re: 2nd dose PG600
Hog Doc, Correct they were, but they had no reason to be. No change in conditions, feeding or major factors to stop them cycling. They are healthy and growing well - all three are gilts. It was just weird that these were three of four that I PG600 originally and brought in and had to do it again to ...
