Re: Half and half oats?

Never done half and half. 3/4 feed, 1/4 oat groats (yaggies) until 125lbs and then 2/3 feed, 1/3 oat groats works very well. It is very important to note that it is oat groats (de-hulled) and not oats. There is a big difference between the two. Pigs do very well on oat groats. The above ration as be...

Re: 94 lb Gilt - 90 Days till weight in.

Getting to 270 is very doable. Asking her to eat 6 lbs a day at 95 lbs is probably to much. I would back feed off some. Once she gets to the point she is eating everything you are giving her at each feeding start to up the amount you are feeding gradually. She will learn to eat every thing you give ...

Re: Fitter 35 (When to start)

KGB,

Do you recommend fitter 35 or Champion drive to help develop a more defined loin when you have 45-60 days to work with ? Does it depend on whether or not you what to burn fat or are there other factors that you look at ?

Thanks

Re: High Octane Paylean in California

Paylean ruins alot of pigs. A show pigs final look is only only about 20% feed related. The rest is genetics. Keep the paylean away and feel good about showing the pig. With all due respect I completely disagree with this statement, both the part about feed only being 20% of the equation and about ...

Re: Holding

I would agree that your hogs are the right size and you should not have to hold. I would actually say that you should be feeding more than 3 1/2 lbs per day at this stage.

2 lbs powerfill and 2 lbs regular feed daily with 8-16 oz depth charge per day. Will gain 1.5lbs per day and look fresh come fair time.
