Have you seen the boars at NIBS? I am intrigued with Oneofakind from Burzloff's. This is a little bit off my radar being from Michigan.

No, I've not been to Bill's place I just know he is a good man that knows hogs better than most and he puts semen in the bottle.

if you have access to a good microscope take a look. That is the only way you know.

Life of semen depends on the boar, the extender and the care of the extended product. Many variables.

Re: Large moderate to Large frame York boar

Over the past few years I have been looking for a larger framed yorkshire boar to help keep the "Yorkshire" traits in our herd. I have seen many fat toads that ultimately don't put the traits in the females we are looking for. My question is; who is still out there producing larger framed...

I've always let the sow/gilt have their first pig before exploring.

When you describe her as tight, are you typing about her pelvic area?

If so, how tight?

Finished a litter born last summer. He added muscle bone and top shape. Frame size maintained, thanks.

Will be keeping some gilts from the litter.

We will be selling YakII pigs on showpig.com April 19th. Have a Yak II gilt on a Bone Up/Changing Time sow that is solid. Looking for an opinion on a ...

there is no reason to remove the gilt from the boar during her heat cycle if she is the only gilt you are breeding.

Semen will live about 24 hours in the female regardless of source.

Some gilts and sows need to finish farrowing before allowing pigs to nurse comfortably. So the idea of taking the pigs and keeping them warm is a great idea.

May also need to clip teeth before nursing.

Have had sows for 40 years and at least 10,000 litters.
