Re: Help w/ shots in crate
Clarification The first shot broke the syringe tip and bent needle a little. The second shot bent needle to the point it split and most likely cracked plastic syringe tip. I was holding the shot much more securely and still have my yellow bruise to show for it! I believe they were a metal hub and no...

Re: Mastitis or Poor Milker
Hog Doc. I was trying for 15 cc pen for an estimated 340lb gilt. Thought she could have infection since I helped her with last 3. Exceed was not needed at all, my mistake was having difficulty getting PCN in her was looking at the long term affect of Exceed. used .2cc PCN at processing as well. Woul...

Re: Help w/ shots in crate
Slap shot will be ordered for sure. Do use a different one for each med bottle so you don't get residue from last use. Looks like it would be hard to clean well.
Luckily I don't have to give PCN shots.

Tied her to side of crate and had a little success. I need some idea's for both our safety!! Give the show pigs shots...

Re: Feed for bred gilts
I guess I'm feeding the right stuff. 14% gestation feed 5lbs once a day for our retired show gilts My concern is how long tell they begin to look like the body condition score of 3? I understand it will take time I just don't want them too lean on farrowing day. Do I continue with 5lbs up to farrowi...

Total Eclipse
Anybody have any little one's on the ground yet from Sole Train, Total Eclipse or Breaking Dawn.
I personally like Eclipse because of his hip structure.

Have a cross bred barrow born Jan 28 for a July 15 check in day. Had a rough start, almost lost him to scours/dehydration first 10 days home. Been gaining pretty good, but not the best, don't have exact number with me but say 1.9 ADG Barely puts 6lbs a day of 18% Sunglo away slopped, feed him 2x day...

<t>I agree with hog doc in that 4.5 will do the same as 9 with less risk if you have the time.

Their is probibly something going on with the metabolism of the pig and how it converts the feed into leaner muscle.

There is no benifical effect by feeding a little over 4.5 go all t...
