Boar Stud Question

Ordered semen from Boar Stud over a month ago for Thursday Oct 26 Collection would of received today on 27th. Gilt came in early so took yesterrday afternoon off and drove down and picked up semen drove home put first dose in. Today getting ready to put 2nd dose in and look closer at tag on semen bottle and find out that bothdoses of semen was from Mondays collection. Paid full price for semen and received 4 day old semen. What seems like a fair solution used both doses looked fine no microscope to check it. Just wondering what others think would be fair to ask from boar stud if you were in my situation.

I'm glad you didn't call them out by name.

At this point all there is to do is make them aware of your concerns. If she settles there wasn't any harm and if she doesn't given the level of customer service from every boar stud I've ever dealt with they will do their best to treat you fair.

Hog Doc is a lot nicer than me!!!!! I wouldn't be very happy if I paid full price for old stuff. Every stud I have dealt with is half price for over run and when it is collection day gives it to me even cheaper. You should tell them about it and they should fix it!

I would not be happy about it either but there just isn't anything anyone can do right now to fix it. The sow either settles or she doesn't.

Thank for the input Darin yes meant september. Hoping for the best everything went like it should so hopefully she settles and this is a mute point will call on Monday and let them no what happened I know people make mistakes but this will be the last time I use this boar stud. Maybe this happens more than I realize just mad about paying full pice for 4 day old semen.

It would be a good idea to take a picture of the semen bottles with the date on them, so you can email them a pic in the event there is a question. They should give you overrun pricing in my opinion. Strange they didn't collect the boar that morning knowing you were on the way and the fact you had pre-ordered......

The fact that the bottle had an old date indicates to me that they're honest. They could have changed the date or the bottle and you wouldn't have known any better. Know where you're coming from though. Probably traveled a good distance and screwed up other plans you probably had for the day and then see that old date. If you call them up I bet they'll give you a credit or refund a portion of your money. Best of luck. I hope she settles for you and you get to play all day in the show ring with a couple of them.

Or who ever put the label on put the wrong date down and it was from Thursdays collection but had Mondays date.

That would be considered over run semen by most studs and would have a discounted price however, every business has different policies as to over run and breeding guarantee's. This would be a simple as checking with them rather that "never buying from them again".

Some studs have lousy service, there are more studs and boars available today than ever before in this industry, those that don't service customers may not be in business next season.
