One boar stud has semen priced at $900 a dose, who can pay that for semen, really!

Yep that's pretty insane and the worst part is it wasn't just one bunch of idiots there had to be a contending bidder! Actually that brings up a good question does any one know who was the brainless fool with the contending bid? Haha makes me laugh thinking about it just the thought of hearing some one say, Yeah I bid $375,000 on a freaking crossbred boar and wasn't able to get him bought! Hahaha crazy crazy crazy however not to take anything away from WD swine nice boar it really was a good one of the better ones to surface in a while really correct, square, and true. With his feet the right size and going in the right direction, not to mention heaviness of structure and true muscle power a really great boar. Just wish more people would be able to afford to use him. Actually can any one afford to use him, better be some d#%n good babies! What will semen be $2,000/dose only available in 10 dose contracts. Once again congrats Watjie family!! Nd if any1 does know the contending I'm just currious

Best boar of any breed I have ever seen. 380K is a whole lot of money. Who knows how he will pay off but those guys that bought him will breed the herd to him. They can price semen at 1000$ and people will buy it.

There is no such thing as a perfect one, but this one id darn close.

If I won the lottery tomorrow I would not pay that for a boar. Just saying! They gave a fortune for Monumental and I don't recall him dominating the national shows any more than the less expensive boars. Starbuck at triple b cost less than 10k and look what he did.

Moyer is feeling pretty confident after the monumental purchase. That $180k investment looked like it ended up paying off. Maybe he didn't "dominate" shows but he had as many high dollar sons sell plus tons of baby pigs sold for A LOT of money. If they follow that same blueprint with this guy as they did with monumental, I would bet they end up profitable in this investment too.

Yea how do u figure monumental didn't dominate? He wins ohio in his first crop, and you have to figure Moyers fed the top 20 in their minds as boars. If all the breeders that layed sons into stud would have cut them imagine the winners, Stholiquist, Marek, Brinning, Heimer, Moyer, Lettow, Mason, Stauffer, Platt, just to name a few that sold Monumental sons to studs. The money was in Seedstock they figured, and they figured right. He will DOMINATE Texas this winter mark my words.

MasterofPanic- You are dead on. This boar will be used by a chosen few (if that). This is a herd boar that the owners will use themselves. I doubt they think they will pay for him by selling semen.

They both will make money on him, both firms will sell bred gilts bred to him, how much will a bred gilt be worth bred to him, if they each sell 10 I think they could each easily avg 10k apiece on them, right there more than half of him is paid for, both will add sons they bred into there own studs and they won't sell much semen for the first season or 2 because they will both use it all. When they made the investment they both had a plan and they both will make a lot of money.

Watched Duelm bid 200k then he was out. I think Rory know pigs about as good as anyone. For him to be in at that price says alot about this boar.

As far as the "idiots" that bought this boar go. I think that if this boar does what some think he will,the "idiots" will be ok.

Always think it is funny when someone talks crap about how a person spends their money. Like it is any of their business.
