Revive from Essential and Refresh are the two we use.

If you have a local AHI or MWI store they should have them or you can order online from PBS as Colby suggested or Livestock concepts, QC Supply, Valley Vet etc.

pardon the stupid question but i am just getting back into showing pigs. I did it when i was a kid at the local fair. I now am the proud father of three young ladies that love showing hogs (go figure) they just finished the local fair and they didn't do as well as they would have liked and are wanting to work even harder for next year.

So my question is this, Is the purpose of these supplements to increase anything or just help with recovery from the ring?

Not to sound cliche, but no question is a stupid question when it comes to showpigs. Electrolytes before the show are for their performance in the ring to keep them performing well but also it helps hold water in the muscles giving them a swell effect which in turn gives them a more massive apperance.

The two I mentioned both contain organic acids and will increase water consumption. Revive and refresh are simple non acidified electrolyte solutions. It seems paradoxical but using these acidified products actually increases systemic pH.

The bottom line is you will get pigs fuller.

Yes that is the product I was talking about.

There isn't anything that would be a problem with a drug test,

How long before depends on your weigh back rules.

If you are at a show where you have to weigh back and have a weigh in that it is based on you should make sure the pig is close to full before you weigh in because these products will add water at 8# per gallon and over a couple days you could easily get yourself in trouble. If your weigh back is based on a weigh card then just take it into account.

No weigh back start as soon as you exit the scale.

On weekends we are going to jackpot we just put it through the proportioner for the whole show barn on Friday and then use it all weekend.

Thanks hogdoc for the info. We have no wayback so I will start as soon as they leave the scale.
