First off hello and thank you for any help anyone offers.
My daughter is very new to showing pigs (as am I) and we are hearing diff opinions on how big her pigs should be when we purchase them.
Fair is early Aug and we know ppl with pigs that are already 80lbs some around 30lbs and all inbetween. Whats a good starting Age/weight? Also Im sure some breeds finish sooner then others?

Re: New showers questions....
First what is your weight limit for your fair? Our show is in February and we generally get them mid October when they weigh 40-60lbs and have a finishing weight of 280+lbs. different breeds of pigs grow pretty similar. Let me know if you need any other advice
Re: New showers questions....
Like the last responders said is it depends on you're weight limits at the fair. Pigs right now should be approximately 60 pound and born the last week of January or first week of February that Will give you a pig approximately 6 months old. You should be good somewhere around there
Re: New showers questions....
Thanks for the replys.....pigs must be 230 by weigh in at fair...we don't have a max but anything over 300 will not do as well from what we have noticed. Typically top pigs are about the 270 - 280 mark.
