Breeding Question

Post by jrapp » Tue Jul 11, 2017 9:44 am

Were going to naturally breed a couple this year. Any tips or suggestions on how to keep track of breeding dates in the case I'm not around when the deposit is made? Anyone ever use a Kamar patch?

At a minimum I would not leave the boar with the sows at all times. I would take the sows to the boar every day if possible. If you need to leave the boar with the sows then i would just watch closely. You should be able to see when the sow has been bred her back should be rubbed up and red. I usually go with the second or third day she was being serviced as her breeding date.

Agree with above post, if possible place boar in with sows once they hit standing heat. Leave him in there for 2-4 days and take him back out. My work has called for times when I've had to put him in ahead of schedule as long as you check your sows couple times a day at least when you know they're in heat you'll see marks. As long as you have your sows cycles down it's not really that difficult to keep track of.
