Hauling with a suburban
Hauling with a suburban
We have a 2010 1500 suburban as the family hauler. Wondering if hauling a 3200 trailer with 2000 lbs of pigs in it is too much for the thing. We also have f350 diesel, which is of course a better hauling choice but we can't for whole family in it. We are tired of driving 2 vehicles to every show. Thoughts??
Re: Hauling with a suburban
I have seen the results of people pulling to much trailer with not enough vehicle. Do your family a favor and continue to pull the trailer with the F-350. It may be a pain in the but to take 2 vehicles but you all will arrive safely at the destination.
Re: Hauling with a suburban
If you want to go shows in the SUV consider getting a aluminum low profile trailer. We haul 6-8 pig in a low pro with the dodge durango all the time with no problems at all. Pulls very easy
Re: Hauling with a suburban
We pulled a standard height, 16' corn pro for years normally with 6-8 head, with a 1500 suburban and had no issues as far as it handling the additional weight. We did add a trailer break controller that I would highly recommend. The suburbans have a factory plug under the dash to add one if yours did not come with one from the factory, so there is no wire issue, just plug and play.
The suburban actually pulled it better that the crew cab 1500HD truck we had at the time.
We made one trip to Belton with 7 head and averaged 27 MPG.
