Seperation anxiety with litter mates
Seperation anxiety with litter mates
We have a gilt and barrow that are litter mates. They are in separate pens. When we try to walk the gilt our barrow goes NUTS!!!. He paces the pen and even tries to climb the fence. When we try to walk him without her... He just tries to run back to the pen. Help!!!
Re: Seperation anxiety with litter mates
I've had a similar problem before with 2 pigs before. I would do a couple things to solve the problem. 1 try moving the pigs into different pens so they cannot see each other. If this is not possible put a large piece of plywood in between their pens again so they can't see each other. 2 the gilt sounds like she is the least bothered about being separated so when you take her out to walk try feeding your barrow or use some other way to distract him. 3 spend more time with your pigs sometimes you just need to strengthen your bond with them so they can forget about each other. hope my advice helps. let me know how it turns out.
