It's been about 10 years since I've had sows. Back then, I was mostly using f1 females, and then breeding them back to crossbred boars.
I'm building a building a barn with plans to have 2-6 sows again. Raising some showpigs for kids, but also providing homegrown meat for our family and as a small extra source of income.
I've stayed up with the trends judging county fairs and things, but aside from tricked out, I'm behind on the most influential boars (post visionary....)
What do I need to know about that I've missed in the showpig world? I'm worried about getting sows bred, nursing showpigs, and farrowing unassisted, and what boars/lines will help me with that.
