New Purina Feeding charts following new feed rules?

Post by madarchery » Thu Apr 27, 2017 9:17 am

KGB,
I was wondering if you have updated feed charts with the new feed regulations in place.

From 40# when most fair goers pick up our pigs to market weights do you have an updated chart with feed choices and possible additives or medications (to et from vet) to introduce at certain times? (Such as during the first week in the new barn)

Sure this could help a lot of use summer farmers :)

I'm not sure what you are asking about. None of our feeds require a VFD as 709, 809 and 909 are non medicated. 209, 309, and 509 are medicated with Denagard which does not require a VFD. The weight ranges for the feeds are the same.

What water soluble or injectable mesds might be used is dependent upon the type of immune challenge the pig encounters. Consulting a vet would be best for that as they will issue the VFD for both feed grade and water soluble medications.

If you look at the research data, what feed grade meds do is move more of the poorer doing pigs toward the mean (average). They really don't do a lot for the good doing pigs (referring to growth promotion). Again, if pigs are sick a vet needs to be consulted.
