High Octane Paylean in California
High Octane Paylean in California
I have used the High Octane Paylean for several years. Went to my local TSC and was told the Paylean couldn't be sold in California due to one of the ingredients. Has anyone heard of this?
Re: High Octane Paylean in California
High Octane Paylean is still available in California. However, it was decided (not by me) to not floor stock it. So, dealers including TSC stores have to order it. They can get it. That one ingredient story they told you is bogus. Not sure why someone at that TSC store is conveying goofiness.

Yes, they said they "can't even order it". We are 28 days from the show and was going to start the Paylean next Wednesday. I have had great success with the Paylean Premix . Now it looks like I may have to find an alternate.

Paylean ruins alot of pigs. A show pigs final look is only only about 20% feed related. The rest is genetics. Keep the paylean away and feel good about showing the pig.

All is Well. You could not be more wrong. Paylean doesn't ruin pigs the person feeding them does. Paylean doesn't make pigs unsound, it takes pigs that are unsound to begin with and make them much worse because their structure cannot handle the extra muscle and fast weight gain. Pigs that are sound have zero problems with Paylean if fed correctly.
Just blaming Paylean is wrong. Genetics, nutrition, management, and health play equal roles.

With all due respect I completely disagree with this statement, both the part about feed only being 20% of the equation and about paylean ruining pigs. Genetic potential, quality feed plan and proper environment are all vitally important to getting positive results. Then you are getting close to getting me on my soapbox by making the paylean statement. Paylean used properly with good structured pigs does not ruin pigs< it can actually be very beneficial.

I understand your point but I guess the 4Hers that get 2 pigs a year for the county Fair all think they have great pigs, then comes the paylean and the troubles. Need to educate more.
