Help slowing one down.KGB

KGB, we have 2 barrows at 175lbs with 60 days left. Would like to see them at 270 or so. We feed exclusively Purina feed and supplements

Your barrow can AVERAGE gaining 1.58 lbs/day. (270 - 175) / 60 days = 1.58 lbs/day.

The easiest way to do that is:
(TOTAL DAILY FEED; DIVIDE INTO 2 EQUAL MEALS):
HSC 709 (or 809 or 909) 2 lbs
High Octane Powerfill 2 lbs
High Octane Depth Charge 1/2 lbs (8 oz)

The pig should gain 1.5 lbs on this diet. However, if you want to work on the pig (more muscle, more fat cover, more fill etc...). Then it becomes a little more involved.

Basically:
1. calculate the total potential ADG (as I did above)
2. feed for short periods (14 - 21 days) at a time
3. recalculate total potential ADG for the days remaining (after the feeding period)
4. feed for 14-21 days etc...

By doing this the pig can gain faster with each successive feeding period. This way you can work on areas of the pig that need help by using the High Octane supplements.

They both have way too much cover now. I do have some fitter 35 on hand. Can I implement that into the program now?

They weigh 175 lb and have way too much cover?

Yes you can 2 lb 709 (809 or 909) and 2 lb Fitter 35. The pig is not going to gain 1.5 lb/day. But you can increase the base feed after you get them where you want them.
