Depth charge

Post by Dpils » Sun Nov 26, 2017 4:50 pm

At what point would you begin depth charge? My pig is pretty heavy muscle, 116 lbs. I currently give her 2 lbs of a protein 16%/fat 5% blend with2 oz oats.

I’m assuming that’s twice per day. If not it’s not nearly enough feed. You can feed the High Octane supplements anytime you need them. It depends upon the pig and how much help it needs. A recommendation for a set length and amount of feeding would under feed some pigs and over feed others.

For Pigs requiring some help I’d say 30 days prior to show at 8 to 16 oz per day (start at 4 oz/day and increase by 4 oz/day about every 7 days until you are feeding the desired level).

For moderate help 30 - 45 days

For a lot of help 60-90 days.

No. Feed it dry. If you wet it and it begins to expand pigs will have a difficult time eating it.
