KGB, feed plan

Post by snipercoyote » Sun Jun 10, 2018 10:13 pm

Have a gilt weighing 194ibs right now. Have 49 days until fair. Would like to trim her up and get some more pop out of her. Am currently feeding 4ibs 909 and 2ibs fitter 35 per day divided into 2 feedings. My goal is to have her around 270 for fair. Would like to really push her the last 20 days or so and add paylean or would keeping her on current plan and maybe swapping the 35 for the new 52 be a better choice?

Sorry I didn’t see this earlier. Is this a market or breeding gilt?

She is a breeding gilt. Weighed her on Friday the 15th and she weighed 206. I have 43 days until show. Have access to all Purina products and that's all I feed my show pigs. On my original post I had her on fitter 35. Since I did switch to fitter 52, so I am currently feeding 5ibs 909 and 1ib of fitter 52 per day.

Just wondering why you want to hit a specific weight on a breeding gilt? (270 - 194) / 49 days = 1.55 lb/day gain.

Do you show breeding goats by weight? If not, if by age (most shows show by age) why wouldn’t you want her bigger? Fitter 52 should do what you want in a short period of time.
