We picked our pig out of a large lot very quickly-bad idea. After getting it home we were disappointed to see that it has a slight hump in its back, or I would also describe it as having a dip down to the front shoulder blades. Any chance that this will change? The pig is only about 35# right now. Is there anything special we can do to help this. Getting a new pig is not an option. Thank you for any advice.

theres a good chance it will go up at 35lbs. The pig is just out of the nursery and most pigs have that but they almost always go back up by the time they are 60lbs. But there is also a good chanc ethat it doesnt.

A lot of times on young pigs the loin muscles grow a little faster than the frame size and will grow out of it as they get older.

lowering the protein will also help to level a pigs top when the hump is caused by heavy muscling. i wouldn't do it right now though. this is a critical time in your pigs development, so for now keep keep him on a high protein ration he may just grow out of it.
