Kent feed formula for grind & Mix

Post by show4fun » Mon Apr 21, 2008 11:37 am

We get Kent feed from our local elevator. We are wanting a good grind and mix formula. Any suggestion. Our pigs are weighting in right now between 60-120 lbs. I know most don't want to give out you "special recipe" but we would like to try to have our feed mixed this year to save money, but still want a good looking pig.

The Kent dealer I use in eastern Ohio gets the Kent main ingredients and grinds a few other thing into it . I am not sure what he uses but on my next trip to the feed store I will try to find out. He said it will save about $3 to $4 a 50# bag.

Thanks, every little bit helps, specaly now that gas has gone up again in Illinois. 3.69 a gallon for higher grade. Do you know when you will be making that next trip?

I talked with my dealer today. He said that he gets the Kent mineral mix then adds corn and grinds it all together. It is about $15 a 50# bag. The Leanium 18 is $20 a 50# bag. The only difference is that the Leanium 18 is in pellet form and the other is just in the ground form. My brother in law is feeding it to his pigs and they are doing good on it.

Thanks for the information. Do you know how much corn to mix with a bag of the Kent mineral mix.
