Paylean Questions

Post by Princess_Wendie » Fri May 23, 2008 9:56 pm

What feeds can i buy that include paylean and any idea where i can purchase it. we live in a small town and it is often hard to find many of these specialty feeds..

Thank you in advance,
wendie

We have used Showtec's paylean product. It is called Lean Maximizer, and usually comes in a bucket.
You will want to follow the directions and if I remember your gilt, she may not really need much. Is she a market gilt or breeding gilt? There would be a difference on how you feed them depending on your answer.

Thank you for your reply, she is a market gilt and here is a link to a couple of pictures..

I had some Show Rite feed reserved here locally but they were not able to get enough so i am trying to find another feed that will do the trick, and we are very limited here on what we can get..

We have Purina Growena, Nutrena ring master, rogue and thats close to it...

After seeing the pics i would not use much paylean at all. You might tighten her up to much. I personally think she doesn't look bad the way she is. She looks to be still young yet and she wiil develope more on her own. Just some advice. :D Also I use the permixed paylean it is in a complete feed. I have a gilt that loks just like yours, but she is a little bigger now and she has developed alot on her own. Also hwo do u get pics on here if u let me know i can show u some pics of her.

I second hank's reply. I think she looks pretty good at this point. If she were mine, I don't think I would use paylean on her. How many days till you show and what does she weigh?
Today they are looking for softer made hogs that have a little cover, not the pigs severals years ago that had so little fat, they couldn't walk well and when it came time to eat them, they didn't do that well either.

I would also have to agree she looks a little young to be starting her on paylean. If using Showrite they will have a feed with paylean in it and added fat. I believe it is called Instant Power and you could have your feed dealer order it and have it available when you need it.

If she averages 1.75 rog over the next 80 days you will get her to 230. She could do better than that, being a cross helps.
Clean bedding, clean water available at all times, worm her every 30 days, and if it is hot, rinse her off, or put a fan where she can get some air.
You are asking good questions and have an excellant source of information here on this board.

Just a thought, we (HONOR) have two products that will help you. Champion Drive topdress does a great job at adding muscle shape over the pig's top at 1 lbs per day.

High Octane Power Fuel will help with growth rate. I can get you in touch with our rep in Oregon if you like.
