Hi there! Our pig is at 173 and needs to be 240 by August 1st. We are hand feeding 3 lbs of Purina 709 feed with 4 oz of Heavyweight twice a day, but she doesn't eat well and never finishes it. We started giving her a 1/2 gallon of milk with 4 eggs daily, mixing in 4 oz of the heavyweight in the milk and she scarfs that up. Any ideas on how to get her to eat more? We have tried putting brown sugar, cake mix, etc. in the feed but it doesn't seem to entice her much.
Also I would love some guidance on how to use Paylean as we have never used it before. Thanks!

If you are feeding 709 it is old. We launched a new feed program April 1st. 719 took its place. 719 has feed additives to help with this problem.

Sorry I meant 719. We have used it for years so I still call it 709
Re: Pig not eating well, needs to gain!
Since she is 173 lb, you might think about transitioning to 819z. 819 is a little higher in energy (calories). Increase Heavy Weight to 8 oz per day and in 4-5 days increase again to 12 oz per day.
Mix the Heavy Weight with enough water to make a milk shake like consistency then add to the feed.
Also try giving her 20 minutes to eat. Then (if she’s done ... no longer at the feeder) remove any feed left in the feeder. Keep doing this. Usually, by the 3rd or 4th feeding pigs clean up everything that’s in the feeder.
Paylean does 3 things well:
1. Increase muscle
2. Decrease body fat (if fat isn’t added in the diet)
3. Increase growth rate
The increase in growth rate lasts about 14 days and then rapidly subsided. So, for increased growth rate “pulsing” Paylean works best (14 days on, then 5 days off, then repeat).

Re: Pig not eating well, needs to gain!
Thank you for the reply! We will switch up the feed to the higher calorie one.
So if I understand correctly, we should feed 1 level scoop of paylean into 6 lbs of feed is that correct? I am feeding the paylean 900 Type B medicated. Is there a withdraw time on that? I find the instructions on the label a little confusing. Just wanting to make sure we are feeding it correctly. Thanks!

1 scoop (scoop = 1 oz in HO Paylean 900) mixed into 5 lb of feed (not 6).
