Sow cycle after weaning

Post by insulator » Fri Nov 16, 2012 10:14 am

Weaned a litter off a pure york sow. She had standing heat 5 days after weaning. I am assuming she should cycle 21 days after that. My question is she went 2 days about a week and a half ago without eating bad cold gave batril, up eating next day back to her normal self. Would this affect her cycle or should she still come in this weekend on 21 days? Thanks for any input

Sow cycle after weaning

I would think she would come in on her normal days of cycle (does she cycle every 21 days normally?)....

ie..our Berk she was also coughing and standing just as we were going to breed her and then the person whose boar we selected "forgot" to ship us the semen we had ordered....so we let her cycle naturally (did not use matrix) and she came into heat 19 days later and we missed on that one (who would have thought 19 days) so the next time we watched her real close...day 18 fencing and acting stupid so we ran down to Russel Kneese and he handed the stuff to us and bred her on day 19....she is a 19 day cycler and the cough did not affect her it just took us awhile to figure her cycling days out (19 days...really!!!)..
