Post cervical rods

Post by Smokedawg » Thu Jul 27, 2017 9:10 am

I have a gilt that won't stand for a boar but will stand for a short period if I use boar spray. Was thinking about using a post cervical AI rod on her while she is eating. I have bred them this way in the past with normal AI catheters and had success. I have watched the you tube video of it and am wondering if you put the inside catheter all the way in as they do for sows or do you shorten it up for a gilt?
Thanks

You should insert it until it won't go any further and then pull back slightly so that the tip is not right up against the wall.
