Rod Type

Which type of rod is recommended for a small gilt.

Personally I use the AB foam rod that is designed for gilts. If I am out of those I use the foam golden pig style gilt rod. If I am out of both i will reluctantly use the spirette type rod, but I really do not like using them if I can avoid it.

Best catheter for gilts is the "Classic Blue" foam catheter.

www.continentalplastic.com Product number S6-5125 or S6-5153 (with handle).

They are also a client of mine.

Actually the best rod is one that you are comfortable with. When I started AI'ing hogs there were no foam tips, so I have always used spirettes and can't imagine using anything else. If it ain't broke don't fix it. But if I were starting today I probably would use some of those newfangled ones.
