Re: watjie's perty blues
I've want to stay away fron to much inbreeding usibg crosses want sonething to take to Indy or STC boar wise either untouchable or slow ride?
Re: watjie's perty blues
I dont think your going to get that deep blue if you breed to a pure york. Try a dark cross.
Re: watjie's perty blues
the deep blue originally came from a purebred York he had so who knows. you will have a better chance breeding to a cross though

So was the Ideal boar at Ryan's the result of a York x (Hamp x Duroc) then?

Talk to Crossroads about Shootem.
Re: watjie's perty blues
ideal was full sib to the res grand barrow at San Antonio Ryan raised in the late 90's. Believe the top side was a pure York named Amos that stood maybe at LVS??? The watje blue comes from a York boar even before Ideal called Universal. As universal got older he got some gnarly blue spots. His herd was built around Universal and Cheese It. They got mix and matched back and forth for probably 3-4 years and obviously ryan has never been afraid of line breeding so his herd was pretty tight between those 2 boars. With everything having that deep blue gene from Universal ryan got his trade mark.Galion wrote:So was the Ideal boar at Ryan's the result of a York x (Hamp x Duroc) then?

Re: watjie's perty blues
I know u don't wanna hear it but don't breed her genetically carry on or might not even make it in the crate, but if you are dead set on breeding her go with a purebred that has as much flex and soundness.....don't go cross more consistency going with a pure
