Top Duroc Breeders

Who are the top Duroc breeders? I want to find some good Duroc gilts who are the people that I should look into?

I think this depends on what type of gilts you are looking for. People that come to mind for me are John Huinker, Guy Jackson, and Howard Parrish. Those are some of the legends when it comes to Durocs.

Dig into the pedigrees and you will find TX Monkey 2-3 in
almost every Duroc in America ! Put HP on the map and
built him one of the best sow herds ever. Back in the 90's

It all depends on what you are trying to do with them. HP was on the map way before Monkey was ever produced!!!

The Parrish family has been in the Duroc business for a long time.
HP Big Moose did them a good job, but TX Monkey 2-3 sired more boars and gilts for them that went into other herds then any boar they ever used. There was 567 boars that were registered that were sired by
TX Monkey 2-3 or out of a sow that was sired by TX Monkey 2-3 and there were over 1000 gilts sired by him.

I don't think the OP would go wrong visiting any and all of the breeders mentioned so far. In addition, given where the op is he'd be remiss if he didn't visit Dave Martin, Kelly Sheets, and Nathan Weisinger. Forgive me since I know I'm probably forgetting someone he'd drive by doing that tour.

I would add Vaughn Jackson in Wellston, OK to that list as well. If your looking for Duroc's built right from the ground up he is up there on my list.
