Boars For My Blue X Gilt

Post by SwineGuy89 » Tue Sep 12, 2017 6:39 pm

I have one boar in mind, From Pacific NW Genetics named Silver Bullet, He is a Strikin Matches X Walk alone. He is a Blue boar and seems to offer what my gilt needs, i am waiting on a video to get my final opinion.

My gilt is a Colt 45 X Blue Rage Gilt who is also blue marked, she is huge boned, and footed and her toe spread is awesome, she walks smoothly and consistently and is powerful yet not over the board muscle wise. She is level topped, so i would like to add some neck extension as well as overall elevation to the front third. She needs some more fore rib and maybe just some overall more center body. I have also been looking at Allen Richburg's breeding stock which i know offers this. Ideally i would like to take her to a boar that is also going to generate offspring that are a little larger framed.

I am not sure if my gilt has the red gene but looking at her pedigree i would assume that she does, i know that making hogs better comes before color, but cooler colored hogs sell easier around here.

A little history on the gilt: The breeder has the mother, grandmother, and two half sisters, all of them needed light assistance the first time farrowing and no assistance the rest of the other two litters each sow had.

So with this being said I would still like to go with a boar that is easier to farrow, i like white privilege, and he is known to be a "farrowing ease boar" What do you think about him? Anyways, to the point who would you recommend for her? ONLY CROSSBRED BOARS. 250 Max per dose. Thanks in Advance.
It's not all about being the heaviest muscled hog, Its about balance.
