I was wondering if it is better to get into fullblood pigs from the beginning or work my way in. what does a fullblood gilt cost. I am in the twin cities metro area. Not alot of pigfarmers around hear, does anyone know of people around my area. Whats a good breed for around my area i am in Twin Cites Metro Area (st. paul and minneapolis mn)

if you want to win probally full. But it depends on what you want to pay.

By full blood I am supposing you mean pure bred. Are you planing on breeding? or showing? If you are meaning to be competitive in the showring, crosses are more competitive, and pures (generally) less so both in quality and numbers. Purebred gilts prices are dependant on quality, and as such can range from 100- 1000s.
